¡Viva la Revolution!
This project occurred in world Studies with Mr. Villegas and Ms. Boyce. The driving question was “Why do people revolt?” which occurred in 9th grade as a group project. This applied to the real world by showing change and how it happens. As a team, we created a presentation over many weeks describing what we wanted to change, how to do it, what the problem was, and some statistics to help realize the problem. While working on it, it became difficult when members didn’t do their work or didn’t put much effort into it. We were graded based upon our oral communication for the presentation. This presentation taught me better oral communication skills for presenting. I did well in the end and was proud of my hard work after many weeks. I can see how I’ve progressed in my presentation skills over time and what to improve on for the next. A mistake myself and another group member made was not keeping the rest of our group on task and making sure they did their work to the quality we expected from them.

Be the Change...Over Time
This is a project all Freshman are required to complete in Ms. Engdahl's Biology class. For part of the project, I wrote a CRA (College Ready Assessment) on the topic of Endangered Species, GMOs, or Antibiotic Resistance. This was an individual project I completed as a Freshman. The driving question for this project was “How can my understanding of evolution help me make educated decisions to positively benefit myself and our world?”. The CRA was a decent size part of the project. I focused on the topic of Endangered Species and specifically the Gray Wolf. I decided to write it in the form of an editorial. I’d written a CRA previously and many other writing assignments so this was a somewhat easy task for me to accomplish. The CRA is graded upon Knowledge and Thinking, Agency, and Written Communication. In this assignment, I improved my writing skills as seen in my CRA compared to previous writing assignments in the past. While my writing skills improved, a mistake I made was forgetting to implement the idea of natural selection in my rough draft which took more time to fix for my final. I chose my CRA because I see my writing skills to be mediocre and would like to vastly improve in the future and saw improvement in my CRA.
